a Belated Christmas Gift

Well I finished my Granddaughter's Christmas gift and presented it to her a couple of weeks ago. I love the Ellieinspired nonie girl pattern because I can get it in a slim size. Having it in a slim size is very much a plus as Sarah is tall and slender. I am using size 8 right now. I made the top part from cream tone on tone vine print and  cream colored print on red background  cottonfabric for skirt and waistband and embellished it with three small red buttons down the front and red piping around neck.

 It does come in plus and average size as well. Doesn't that sound good! Most of Ellieinspired pattern pieces are interchangeable too! The nonie pattern origninally is sleeveless, so I added sleeves from ellieinspired's butterflydream dress sleeve, and added a tuck waistband, did a gather skirt instead of a pleated skirt, and added length to skirt and sleeves. She really likes it. Long dresses are her thing right now. It keeps her warm and since its cold here right now, long sleeves is a good option too! The pattern has a belero jacket included with short and long sleeves option.

The Kangroo Pocket Overalls

 

 

Check out this cute Kangaroo pattern by Puperita . It is fully lined with a kangaroo type pocket to put all those fun toys your child likes to carry around with him or her. My grandson Loves the pocket in front as you can see from the following pictures. The have cute elastic pockets on the back too. Don't let the lining scare you. Lullaby baby

The lullaby patterns by Peek a boo patterns is out! and I am excited and ready to make baby things for a new grandchild  and I have already started making items from it. This is a onsie I made for my 16 mo grandson. Its a easy sew. The only thing that took longer for me was putting in the snaps in, only because I just started using them. I just discovered Kamsnaps so I am still practicing getting them in. Once you get them in correctly, it seems they will snap and unsnap well. Well the onsie fits, and he loves the trucks on them, I say the onsie was a hit!

Butterflybaby flutter top/ Dress

I Love this butterflybaby pattern size 0-24 mo. by tie dye diva. It a very easy pattern. The designer's photo's and instructions were easy to follow. Its a pattern that can be made different ways. I had one idea but after searching in my stash for that idea combination I found this cute rose print and thought it suit this pattern well. You can think of all sorts of color combination and/or add length to make a dress instead of a top. The original top pattern has a band at the bottom, but I wanted to give it a ruffle so it had a similar look to tie dye diva's girl butterfly flutter dress size 2-8. I added a strip of the contrast color to the ruffle before I gathered and sewed it to the bottom of the dress. I think it will make a  great gift! I know I will eventually make another. Family homemade Christmas Gifts

All 3 teenage grandsons plus my son received hats from  Tie Dye Diva Pattern made out of  fleece fabric. And all the women received a buttercup bag I modified from a free pattern from  http://www.made-by-rae.com/2009/02/free-buttercup-bag-sewing-pattern/ and the smaller children each got a pair of pjs made from either a peekaboo pattern shop or Oliver and S.

The hat is a very quick sew, instructions are great and my grandsons and son said it is a comfortable hat. This hat is going to be retired soon  and Tie Diva pattern shop is having a bundle sale of 11 of her soon to be retired patterns, so make sure you check out Tie diva Pattern link and see what others items are included with her hat bundle before they are gone.

My daughter talked me into making a fleece pullovers for her boys and she supplied the fabric after Christmas. So the 6 year old received a peekaboo crew neck pullover which I modified by leaving off the waistband and I added a hat to match from Tie Dye Diva Pattern.

As you can tell he is a 49r's fan. He was leaving today so I made sure I got a quick photo of  him wearing his tie diva hat and peekaboo crew neck fleece pullover. The sun was pretty bright at the time so he looks like his squinting. The fabric is from Joanne's Fabric Store. The fabric is very soft fleece!

A Holiday Skirt

Corduroy pants

I really liked the way this pattern went together. Very easy to follow instructions and Photos. This is made with black corduroy and the lining and contrast is made with a cotton red/black paw print. I am not use to putting lining in pants but putting it in was not as hard as I thought it would.  I love the little details like the cuff on the bottom of pant with buttons and the fake pocket in back with buttons. My grandson is small around so the pants are little big for him right now, But its always nice to have something for them to grow into when they seam to grow so fast. I made a size 6 mo.

Another winter pj set and Vest Jacket

The last two months have been birthday months. This little fellow turns 5 today. It was celebrated on Thursday. I gave him this Peek a boo Pattern (Great Outdoor Vest) Thursday along with his Winter PJs. I made it out of Blue Sweat Shirt Fleece Fabric  and line with a printed flannel for extra warmth for  the cool fall days. This jacket vest can be made reversible using a reversible zipper, but I onlyhad a separating zipper for one side so that what I used this time.

This is the first Peeka booPattern I have made for him and its seems to fit good. size 4T. I definitely love this pattern! I have not been one to  line jackets but I love the finish look to it and want to do more lined jackets. Next time one with sleeves.

The Rosalie Tee

Here is another peekaboo pattern I have  tried out. My granddaughter really like the Rosalie ruffle T  that can be found  here at http://www.peekaboopatternshop.com/product/rosalie-ruffle-tee-3-mos-12-years.  Her mother wanted her to have a neutral color to go with a lot of things. So since I had some white t shirt fabric, I did my first one in that color. I love the way the  ruffles look. The pattern said to use Jersey so the ends curl, but I didn't want the ruffles to curl and interlock knit does not curl. Interlock is thicker than jersey so the neckline where the ruffle was sewn to was a little thicker than I like. I do think the shirt turn out good and it looks good on Sarah. I would definitely like to make another one!

A few fall projects

Fall is upon us with cooler mornings now so its time to make warmer clothing for my grandchildren. I have been trying out different patterns from different designers. there are so many to choose from that it is hard to decide what to make first.  As you can tell I have started out with a hooded pullover fleece jacket with a lined hood and a pair of knit pajamas size 12 mo, both are pdf patterns from peek a boo patterns shop . According to his mom,  they both fit great. Fabric is  from Joanne fabrics. I think next time I  will add a little more around the neck so it will go over his head a little easier. Doesn't he look happy!pictures by his mother. she takes great pictures!
