Bumble Bee Dress

I Love this dress pattern from Puperita Patterns (Sweet Bee Dress), It is a very easy, quick pattern. I enjoyed making the bodice lining a different color to give a two tone look. I have given this to my great niece and looking forward to seeing pictures of her wearing it soon. These pictures were take by my daughter in law. When time  permits I will make another one! Thank you for visiting!

Summer Outfits

I know  I haven't posted in awhile. I have been sewing. :) I have been making items for my new grandson shower, gifts for a couple grandson's birthdays. These are the items I made using Peek a boo Patterns. My grandson will have to grow into them, he such a little guy. He lives quite ways from here so I have to enjoy the pictures I see of him. Below are a few of the item I made for the shower last week. I found the max and Matilda pattern and jack and jill short alls to be the easiest for me. The pat a cake romper was a bit more of a challenge, but it turn out fine and I plan to make another version of all them eventually. Before we know it will be time to make things for the cooler weather. Hard to believe right now when it has been in the 90's
I made all items using my stash, that's a good thing right!  The Pat a cake romper has several options which I love. You can go through the seasons with this one and use it for either a boy or a girl.( this pattern has short and long romper options, can be made with or without a collar, and with or with our snaps and has long or short sleeve options), Max and Matilda romper can be made with long or short sleeves + collar,  for boy or girl. It is similar to a onsie only you use woven fabric, elastic , and buttons/snaps, easy to keep tucked in when little ones are moving around. The Jack and Jill short overalls can be made with or without snaps, I added a pocket for interest. I almost added a contrast cuff to it, but I was in a hurry to get it done in time for the shower. Love this pattern too!
All these patterns have several sizes so you can use it for more than one size, traceable, digital download. They all  can be found in the link below
also.....

Below is a pair shorts I made for my grandson's birthday from the castaway cargo pattern that you can make pants and shorts from. I modified this one by using a woven waistband  instead of knit. I made the woven waistband the same measurement as the top of the shorts plus seam allowance and added a contrasting strip on the out side of the front pockets) the orignial calls for a knit waistband and for the pockets I left off the flap and added a button. Eventually he will get a shirt to match. I hope you have enjoyed your visit, Happy Sewing!

Fun Color Options

Here are a few things I have been making the last couple weeks. Trying to catch up on birthdays. Somtimes birthday sneak up  on you all at once. I  can't  wait to see these on my grandsons. One has his already. They are all from Peekaboo Pattern shop.   I just love peek a boo's Maui Muscle Tee http://www.peekaboopatternshop.com/maui-muscle-tee/#aid=1581. It has a solid option  and color block option. Great for those little pieces that just might help complete a project. I have made five of them already.  Next I have been making Castaway Cargo Shorts and modifying them slightly.

These are the first two Maui Muscle Tee's I made.

one grandson modeling his size 18 mo. Maui Muscle Tee taken by his mom.

For the Castaway Cargos  http://www.peekaboopatternshop.com/castaway-cargos/#aid=1581 shown below  I made a woven waist band instead of a knit waistband thats called for in the pattern by using the measurement around the top of the shorts and then for  the pockets I left off the flap and added a colored trim band on the pocket and hem. I think it turned out cute!. Since I didn't have any matching Ribbing I used self fabric for the Maui Muscle Tee shown below. I added about 3/4" to the armhole and neckband pieces before I cut them out. I hope they go over my grandson's head :) Fabrics for shorts are from Joannes and For the Maui Muscle Tee I used a remnant blue I had that match the blue in the shorts and brown fabric I had from Chez Ami.

As you tell I love to do alot of contrasting to make them unique and colorful. Again I added a woven waistband instead of the knit waistband on the shorts and added trim on the slant front pockets to match the waistband, Added a button to lower pocket and left the pocket flap off. Fabrics for these two outfits were purchased at Joannes. Shirt can be found at http://www.peekaboopatternshop.com/classic-oxford-button-up/#aid=1581 and shorts link is with the previous picture.

Well this sums up my blogging for today. I  hope you enjoyed you visit! come visit again soon!

More lullaby baby

This time I made a complete baby set out of the lullaby patterns for my new grandson due in June. It so fun to make little things. I made a 3 month onsie out of a truck brown/blue print. I love the print and wish I had more. That was the last of it! Then I made a basic hat and pants out of blue knit fabric from chez ami. I plan to make more as time allows, so stay tune.

a Belated Christmas Gift

Well I finished my Granddaughter's Christmas gift and presented it to her a couple of weeks ago. I love the Ellieinspired nonie girl pattern because I can get it in a slim size. Having it in a slim size is very much a plus as Sarah is tall and slender. I am using size 8 right now. I made the top part from cream tone on tone vine print and  cream colored print on red background  cottonfabric for skirt and waistband and embellished it with three small red buttons down the front and red piping around neck.

It does come in plus and average size as well. Doesn't that sound good! Most of Ellieinspired pattern pieces are interchangeable too! The nonie pattern origninally is sleeveless, so I added sleeves from ellieinspired's butterflydream dress sleeve, and added a tuck waistband, did a gather skirt instead of a pleated skirt, and added length to skirt and sleeves. She really likes it. Long dresses are her thing right now. It keeps her warm and since its cold here right now, long sleeves is a good option too! The pattern has a belero jacket included with short and long sleeves option.

kangroo pocket overalls

The Kangroo Pocket Overalls

Check out this cute Kangaroo pattern by Puperita . It is fully lined with a kangaroo type pocket to put all those fun toys your child likes to carry around with him or her. My grandson Loves the pocket in front as you can see from the following pictures. The have cute elastic pockets on the back too. Don't let the lining scare you. Puperita gives you step  by step photos and instruction to guide you in making the overalls. I liked that everything matched up too as I followed her instructions.

Lullaby baby

The lullaby patterns by Peek a boo patterns is out! and I am excited and ready to make baby things for a new grandchild  and I have already started making items from it. This is a onsie I made for my 16 mo grandson. Its a easy sew. The only thing that took longer for me was putting in the snaps in, only because I just started using them. I just discovered Kamsnaps so I am still practicing getting them in. Once you get them in correctly, it seems they will snap and unsnap well. Kamsnap has a tutorial that helps you along the way on their site too  at http://www.kamsnaps.com/

Well the onsie fits, and he loves the trucks on them, I say the onsie was a hit!

Ready to Play in the beautiful sunshine!
